Founded in 1956 with the aim of promoting and encouraging excellence in Toymaking, the British Toymakers Guild is run BY toymakers FOR toymakers. The committee and management are all working craftspeople. The BTG is a not-for-profit trade association and is funded primarily by its members' subscriptions, publications and the annual show that is held in London.
The BTG currently represents approximately 150 makers of automata, dolls, dollshouses, hobby and rocking horses, miniatures, nursery and educational toys, paper toys, puppets, soft toys, teddy bears, wooden toys and much else besides.
Applicants for full membership submit examples of their work for scrutiny by a Selection panel. The Guild has always insisted that it's members work meets its criteria of quality. This has ensured that the Guild maintains its reputation among the trade and toy-buying public as representing the creators of well-designed and well-made toys, gifts and collectables.
Even if you are not an active toymaker, you can still support the Guild by joining as a 'Friend' or 'Associate' of the BTG.

The Guild is to hold its annual Exhibition and sale in Bristol this year. We have taken the decision to move out of London to give others the chance to view and buy some of the Guild members work.
So make a date in your diary and come to visit us in Bedminster, Bristol at The Grant Bradley Gallery from October 7th to 31st. On Saturday 23rd we will be having a “Meet the Makers Day” when hopefully we will have some if not all of the members present who are exhibiting.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Marketing Handbook
The BTG has published 'Marketing Traditional Toys' looking at various aspects of marketing for craft toymakers in a straightforward and jargon free way.
